It is a meeting landscape between two bridges, a vegetable impregnation like a carpet of varied essences weaved between the Gand-Brugges-Ostende Canal and the buildings located Leopold II Avenue. It is an exchange place that unifies the dynamism of the city with the calmness of the country. It’s an extraordinary place to live where housing, work and leisure are mixed.

Three storeys single family houses are as if hanging from vertically designed garden. On the Canal side duplexes are overhanging as if to meet the water. On both side the vegetation seeps into the houses’ interstices. From above the sport fields offer a magnificent view. On one side the tower of the new mills and on the other side the canal.

Offices or flexible houses ? Houses become the new workplace. Indeed all the living spaces are structured around a functional and central core. This latter offers a total flexibility of space arrangement in the only and open space up to the partitioned spaces. For example the living room is located in the central part of the triplex : children are living downstairs, parents upstairs. All the family members meet in the middle.

The canal becomes larger and the space breathes in front of the site of the New Mills formed of a landing stage for nomadic boatmen. Traffic is deviated in the home yard between the tower and the vertical garden. A little shop, a bookseller’s shop and a pub give life to it. A panoramic car park is located in the entresol between the water surface and the experiments’ garden.
