The Green Week conference and exhibition is the European Commission's biggest annual event devoted to environmental challenges and EU policies to address them. Every year the conference is visited by over 3000 people and attracts over 100 journalists from all over Europe.
There is no doubt that 2009 is a crucial year in the battle against climate change, and it will culminate in an international conference at the end of the year in Copenhagen to conclude a global agreement for the period after 2012. In light of this we have decided to focus the theme of this year's Green Week around climate change issues.
Taking as its theme 'Climate change: Act and Adapt' Green Week 2009 will offer participants a chance to attend seminars and workshops that look at what we can do globally to bring climate change under control.
